Attendance
Children should arrive at school in good time, but we request that, unless they are attending breakfast club, please do not arrive before 8.40am when the classroom doors open. As I’m sure you are aware, parents/carers are legally responsible for their child’s attendance at school and must ensure regular attendance.
If your child is absent for any reason - please inform the school in person. You can call on 01989 562738 and select option 1 or email admin@ashfieldpark.hereford.sch.uk. Please leave your child's full name, class and reason for absence - please provide enough detail. The admin team may call back to seek further clarification for an absence.
Attendance records are kept and published annually as required by law. Children will not usually be allowed to leave the premises for medical appointments, unless a note or personal call has been received, and parents/carers (over 18 yrs) must collect children if they are to leave school during the school day.
Attendance records of all pupils are monitored regularly by the Headteacher and Attendance Lead. We will contact parents/carers whenever we are concerned about the levels of absence in accordance to the attendance policy.
Due to legislation, we are unable to grant any leave of absence during term time unless there are exceptional circumstances. Therefore, any unauthorised absence (5 days and over within a term) may result in a fixed penalty notice of £60 per child, per parent or other legal action.
If you wish to take your child out of school during term time for exception circumstances, you must apply with the below form. Only applications on this form will be considered.
